Ho-Chunk leader faces removal
OCTOBER 19, 2000 Jacob Lonetree, President of the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin, faces removal from his position for alleged financial mismangement. Critics of Lonetree tie him to lower revenues of the tribe. One of the tribe's casinos made $57.2 million this fiscal year, compared to $85.2 million the previous. A council meeting will be held this weekend. Twenty percent of the tribe's 4,100 adult members would have to be present and vote on removal.
