MAY 24, 2000

The Kickapoo tribal police, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, and officials from Brown County have been cooperating on a homicide investigation on the tribe's land.

The remains of what investigators believe to be an elderly woman were discovered on May 15th during a construction project on a tribal residence.

The investigators are waiting for DNA tests, which could take months, to confirm their beliefs about the remains and a potential suspect.
