Utah wants to end trust responsibility

Utah Governor Mike Leavitt this week told Navajo Nation President Kelsey Begaye that his state wants to end its trust repsonsibility for a $20 million oil royalty trust fund.

The Navajo Trust Fund is the responsibility of the state due to a 1933 law. It brings in about $2.5 million annually.

The fund is the subject of a lawsuit alleging financial mismanagement by the state of Utah.
