Receiver sought for Pequot payments

THURSDAY, MARCH 14, 2002

A receiver should be set up to garnish the per capital payments of Mashantucket Pequot tribal member being sued, the Connecticut Supreme Court was told on Wednesday.

Keithkalani Sebastian is the target of a wrongful death lawsuit that hasn't been decided on the merits. But an attorney representing the woman who brought the claim wants his payments of about $10,250 per month held by a third-party should she prevail.

Sebastian's attorney countered that the per caps aren't covered under garnishment law.
