Tribal casinos report slot gains

FRIDAY, JULY 13, 2001

The slot machine market in Connecticut grew by 11.3 percent in June 2001 over the same month a year before, according to earnings reported by two tribal casinos.

Foxwoods, owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, made $64.4 million last month. Mohegan Sun, owned by the Mohegan Tribe, made $52.5 million.

The increase is attributed to more machines in play and an extra Saturday.
