Okla. tribes get betting approved
MARCH 29, 2001 The state of Oklahoma on Wednesday signed three new off-track betting compacts with the Kaw Tribe, the Absentee Shawnee Tribe, and the Seminole Nation. The state also renewed a compact with the Choctaw Nation. One of the tribe's betting sites has been in a dispute with a nearby horse racing track but the tribe agreed to close the Pocola parlor by April 15. Off-track betting is considered Class III gaming.
