Projects boosting Wash. tribe

Several development projects on the Shoalwater Reservation in Washington are near completion this year, bringing hope to a tribe long neglected by the federal government.

A $500,000 recreation center will open this summer. It includes exercise equipment, a basketball court and other amenities describes as function but not luxurious.

A $365,000 computer and learning center is targeted for the fall. Following that will be a $2 million health center.

New homes are also being constructed for tribal families. There are about 200 members of the tribe.
