MAY 11, 2001

Despite warnings from the Bush administration of even more political fallouts, the House on Thursday voted 252-165 to withhold $244 million in dues to the United Nation unless the United States is restored a seat on the body's Human Rights Commission

The House has agreed to pay $582 million in dues to the organization. The vote applies to a second payment of dues to the UN.

The United States has also lost its seat on the UN International Narcotics Control Board.
