Reception for big GOP givers defended

Democrats and campaign finance watchdogs criticized Vice President Dick Cheney for a reception he held Monday night for big donors to the Republican party.

Cheney invited members of the Regents, those who have given at least $250,000 per election to the GOP, and the Team 100, those who have given at least $100,000 over four years. The Republican National Committee said it was not a fundraiser.

However, tonight, there will definitely be a fundraiser held at the White House. The Presidential Gala is expected to bring in at least $15 million for the RNC.
