Police video documents Oneida scuffle

The Syracuse Post-Standard has obtained a copy of a videotape detailing a confrontation, struggle and injury an Oneida Nation woman of New York suffered when tribal police, with support from local police and approval from the U.S. Attorneys office in New York, tried to enter her home and make an inspection.

The videotape shows police arriving at the mobile home of Danielle Patterson on November 16. A scuffle ensues, with Patterson shown kicking police officers, according to the paper.

Patterson's nose is somehow injured, but the paper says the action took place off camera. She was subsequently arrested by tribal police for hitting the officers.

The police eventually inspected her home. The videotape was made by by tribe's police.

Some tribal members have refused to allow the tribe to obtain access to their homes for "beautification" and health and safety inspections.
