Campaign finance debate starts in House
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2002
The House today starts debate on a measure to reform the way federal campaigns are financed.
Otherwise known as the Meehan - Shays campaign finance reform bill, the aim is to ban "soft money" donations that are currently unregulated. The Senate passed a version of the bill last fall.
A vote is set to take place in the House tomorrow.
