Poll looks at racial bias
JUNE 22, 2001 The Washington Post, the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation and Harvard University have released the results of a poll on racial discrimiation felt by minorities and whites. Nearly half of African-Americans said they have been the victims of discrimination in the past 10 years. Only 18 percent of whites said the same. Almost 40 percent of African-Americans, 20 percent of Hispanics, and 11 percent of Asian-Americans said they have been stopped by police because of their ethnic or racial background. Only 4 percent of whites said the same. The poll was conducted by telephone. No American Indians or Alaska Natives were studied. Get the Story:
