Monday, March 8, 2004

The Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma is leading a protest later this month at the State Capitol to highlight pollution from a chemical plant.

The tribe has filed complaints against the Continental Carbon plant but says the state is doing little about it.. Tribal members and residents say plant sends black dust into the air, causing breathing problems and damaging food crops.

The state has issued notices of violation to the Continental Carbon. The company says no major problems have been found.
