N.D. tribal council to consider status of bison herd
Tuesday, April 13, 2004

The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation council will consider the status of the tribe's bison herd this month.

Tribal employees and outsiders have accused the tribe of mismanaging the herd. They say a number of animals have died of malnutrition and neglect two years in a row.

The herd comes from excess animals at Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The tribe has an agreement with the park that is due to expire in 2006.
