Canadian government cancels Native-only fisheries

The Canadian government has canceled all Native-only fisheries in response to a court decision in British Columbia clearing them illegal. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans is terminating agreements. There is no word of an appeal yet. First Nations claim a right to an exclusive commercial fishery. Some bands are negotiating for fisheries in treaties with B.C. Get the Story:
