Latest Apache fire spares tribal timber

The Kinishba Fire destroyed 24,700 acres of the Fort Apache Reservation in Arizona but spared timber valuable to the White Mountain Apache Tribe.

The tribe's timber economy suffered immensely last summer when the Rodeo-Chediski Fire burned 270,000 acres. A salvage sale did not bring in as much money as expected.
