BIA upholds cancellation of tribe's contract

Acting assistant secretary Aurene Martin has upheld the cancellation of a New Mexico tribe's gasoline distribution contract, The Santa Fe New Mexican reports.

Nambe Pueblo entered into the contract to a private company to operate a distribution business on tribal land. The arrangement was never approved by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and tribal officials canceled it.
