Tribe waits on DOJ intervention in land claim
Thursday, August 7, 2003

The Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans is moving forward with a 23,000 acre land claim in New York.

The tribe's case was stayed pending potential mediation. But a federal judge lifted the stay and said the Department of Justice should decide whether or not it wants to intervene.

The tribe, which is based in Wisconsin, hopes the federal government will get involved. DOJ has intervened in other land claim suits.
