Mohawk business owner to pay $1.1M to tribe

A business woman on the Akwesasne Mohawk Reservation in New York will pay the tribe $1.1 million to settle a cigarette tax dispute.

Faith Thomas allegedly failed to pay cigarette taxes to the tribe. Her cigarette license will be suspended for a year as part of the settlement.
