Thursday, August 14, 2003

Five college students and one professor from tribal colleges in North Dakota participated in a summer program at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in suburban Washington, D.C.

The program is part of NASA's outreach to Indian Country. Students from Oglala Lakota College in South Dakota and from Salish Kootenai College in Montana have also taken part.

NASA wants more Native Americans to consider careers in science. About 150 Native Americans work at NASA's centers around the country, according to The Washington Post.
