Secretary of Interior Gale Norton said she expects environmental challenges to new policies that seek to speed up energy development in the Rocky Mountains.

The Bureau of Land Management is looking for ways to streamline oil and gas drilling on federal lands in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, and New Mexico. Norton said it will be years before energy production under the new guidelines will occur.
