Tribe loses challenge to property assessments

A Connecticut superior court judge has ruled against the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in a property assessment case.

The tribe challenged the assessment on 25 properties it owns in the town of North Stonington. The judge ruled that the proper value was $18 million, allowing to the town take in $666,119 in property taxes.

The tribe is the largest taxpayer in the town.
