U.S. commission to purchase land for Navajo Nation
Wednesday, August 27, 2003

The Navajo-Hopi Land Commission is negotiating to buy 1,260 acres in Winslow, Arizona, for the Navajo Nation.

The land is located along I-40. It is said to be an ideal location for a casino-resort although it sits atop a heavy alkali bed.

The land purchase is authorized under the federal law that created the Navajo-Hopi Commission.
