Judge hears lawsuit against land-into-trust decision
Friday, August 29, 2003

A federal judge in Washington, D.C., held a hearing on Thursday in a lawsuit challenging a land-into-trust decision.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has agreed to take 79 acres into trust for the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians. The tribe intends to use the land for a casino.

A group called Citizens Exposing Truth About Casinos (CETAC) claims the BIA ignored environmental, social and other impacts of the project.
