Janklow has no plans to resign from Congress
Monday, September 1, 2003

Rep. Bill Janklow (R), former governor of South Dakota, will return to Congress business as usual despite being charged with second-degree manslaughter.

Janklow "has no intention of resigning," his son told The Sioux Falls Argus Leader. Congress will convene tomorrow after a month-long recess.

Janklow, 63, was speeding when his car hit and killed a motorcyclist August 16, police say. He has been charged with second-degree manslaughter, a felony, and three misdemeanors, including driving above the speed limit. He faces 10 years in jail and a $10,000 fine if convicted of manslaughter.
