Man sentenced in connection with woman's death
Friday, September 5, 2003

A judge in Alaska sentenced Joshua Wade to 6 1/2 years in prison for tampering with evidence at the crime scene of a Native woman who was raped and murdered.

At a sentencing hearing, Wade, 23, said he was sorry for not calling the police when he first came upon Della Brown's body. He claims he is being targeted in jail as an anti-Native racist.

Daisy Piggott, Brown's mother, said she felt the judicial system failed her. She said she is still in therapy over the death over her daughter.
