Lummi totem pole dedicated at site of 9-11 crash
Tuesday, September 9, 2003

Members of the Lummi Nation of Washington dedicated a totem pole at the site of the September 11, 2001, crash site in Pennsylvania.

The Honoring Pole was the work of several carvers, including lead carver Jewell James. The 13-foot pole features a bear holding a man and woman that represent the crew and passengers of Flight 93.

The Lummi carvers plan to make two more poles and an arch for the Pentagon. Last year, they brought a pole to New York.
