Tonto Apache man fought for federal recognition

The Tonto Apache Tribe of Arizona commemorated Melton "Chief" Campbell, the man who fought for the tribe's federal recognition.

The tribe was recognized in October 1972 after a 10-year effort by Campbell. He also worked to regain the tribe's land.

Campbell died ten years ago on September 13.
