Grand Ronde Tribe donates money for school position
Wednesday, September 17, 2003

The Grand Ronde Tribe of Oregon has awarded a local school district $73,464 to prevent the loss of the school resource officer.

The Willamina School District lost a federal grant that previously funded the position. So the tribe stepped in, using gaming proceeds.

The tribe puts 6 percent of casino profits into a community fund.
