Tulalip Tribes, city pledge cooperation

The Tulalip Tribes of Washington signed a cooperative agreement with the city of Everett on Wednesday. The tribes and the city have been at odds in the past over a number of issues. The agreement is a way to encourage more communication and set out a process for resolving disputes. One issue that may already come up for discussion is the tribes' concern about a proposed pier. The tribes filed a public comment letter saying the Boeing project would damage a traditional fishing ground. The Seattle Times in an editorial calls the agreement a "commendable and historic achievement."
