The Meskwaki Tribe's casino in Iowa has been shut down since May but some tribal members are still getting big payouts, according to news accounts.

Adult Meskwakis receive a $2,000 monthly per capita payment. But due to the ongoing leadership struggle, they were paid twice this month.

On Friday, they received $2,000 from the appointed council and yesterday, they received an additional $2,000, plus a $3,000 hardship bonus, from the elected council. Minors received $1,000 from the elected council, double what they normally receive.
