A student at the Turtle Mountain Community College in North Dakota has lost a federal grant because she is non-Indian.

The Department of Education said it can't provide a grant to Tamara Arnell, a senior at the Turtle Mountain Reservation college. Arnell's husband and children are enrolled members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

Faculty are trying to raise money to help Arnell.
