Democrats block vote on Leavitt for EPA post
Thursday, October 2, 2003

Democrats and the ranking member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee boycotted a planned vote on Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt (R) to head the Environmental Protection Agency.

Democrats and independent Sen. James M. Jeffords (Vt.) said they were protesting the Bush administration's environmental policies. Some Democrats on the committee said they intend to place a hold in Leavitt's nomination in order to get information out of the White House.
