Nev. tribe acquires water rights from ranch

The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe has acquired 461 acre-feet of water rights from a ranch that was seized by the IRS.

The tribe will use the water to increase flows in the lower Truckee River and to Pyramid Lake, where the tribe is trying to protect threatened and endangered fish.

The lake is located entirely within reservation boundaries. The tribe has been battling in court to protect its water rights.
