The Bureau of Indian Affairs will have complete oversight and supervision of the Oglala Sioux Tribe's police department under a new agreement.

The tribal council approved the memorandum of agreement, which states that BIA has final authority over how the police department spends funds, according to The Rapid City Journal. A chief of police and a self-determination specialist for financial programs have been named.
