Proponent of Ho-Chunk language and culture dies

Stanford Whitewater, a man instrumental in preserving the language and culture of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, died Sunday of cancer. He was 90.

Whitewater spoke the Ho-Chunk language. He helped start the tribe's language and culture program.
