Wis. tribes seek recognition from state

Wisconsin tribes are pushing state lawmakers to approve a resolution that would affirm their sovereign status. A special committee on state-tribal relations held a hearing yesterday to review the resolution and two related measures that would create a a special state-tribe council and require lawmakers to develop impact statements showing how their bills affect tribes. The tribes want to establish a better working relationship with the state. Get the Story:
