Pueblo activist makes women, environment a priority

Kathleen �Kathy� Sanchez has run for state office in New Mexico, spoken to the United Nations and started a home birthing program at San Ildefonso Pueblo, where she makes her home.

Sanchez works with Tewa Women United, a coalition of women from Pueblos in northern New Mexico. She speaks out on issues affecting the tribes, including nuclear development.

Sanchez also works as an outreach coordinator for a domestic violence center.
