Navajo president promises Wal-Mart and Home Depot
Thursday, October 16, 2003

Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. is pushing the tribe to approve a $500 million bond project in order to bring three Wal-Marts, two Home Depots and one Office Max to the reservation.

Shirley wants the Navajo Nation Council to hold a special session to approve the plan. A consultant he hired has already spoken to council delegates about the businesses that would come to the reservation.
