A Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer was convicted of assaulting a Native man at a prison in British Columbia but will serve no time and will remain on active duty.

Const. Steve Perrett was turned in by his colleagues after assaulting the man in a jail cell in Williams Lake. He is still under internal investigation.
