Tuesday, October 28, 2003

The Native American Student and Community Center opened at Portland State University in Oregon on Friday.

The $4.5 million, 11,000-square-foot center will provide services to Native students at PSU and provide information to the greater Portland community. It was funded through student fees, tribal donations, federal grants and other sources.

At the ceremony, PSU President Daniel O. Bernstine said the school will now offer a Native American studies program starting in January.
