The third annual Native Education Summit is being held today and tomorrow in Anchorage, Alaska.

The major focus of the conference will be to develop a statewide group that will lobby the state government on Native education issues. Educators say the group is necessary to raise the performance of Native students.

First Alaskans Institute is sponsoring the summit.
