Mashantucket Pequot leaders pledge unity on council
Tuesday, November 4, 2003

The newly re-elected chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut said tribal leaders are united as they move forward with the tribe's goals.

Michael J. Thomas was one of three top vote-getters in an election held Sunday. He ran unopposed for the job of chairman.

Voters also re-elected Charlene Jones, who is serving as secretary, and brought in newcomer Rodney Butler, 26. Butler said he will focus on the business aspects of the tribe. He will be sworn into the council in January.
