House cancels votes due to lack of energy measure
Tuesday, November 11, 2003

Republican leaders in the House and Senate failed to complete work on the energy policy legislation, causing the House to cancel business for the week.

The bill has been held up in Congress for two years. Republicans are not in agreement over tax and other issues. Democrats also object to some passages.

The Indian title of the bill seeks to speed up development of Indian lands by limiting the Department of Interior's review of energy projects.
