Miccosukee Tribe hopes debate will educate
Wednesday, November 19, 2003

The Miccosukee Tribe of Florida held a press conference on Tuesday to discuss the 2004 presidential debate it is underwriting.

Chairman Billy Cypress said the tribe is sponsoring the debate in hopes of educating the candidates on Indian issues. "'We wanted to make sure that the person who will lead us for the next four years understands about Native Americans,'' he said, The Miami Herald reported.

The debate, to be held at the University of Miami on September 30, is the first of the 2004 campaign.
