Alaska Native group wins NAMMY Record of Year

The Anchorage Daily News reports of the Alaska band, Pamyua (pronounced BUM-yo-ah), and its win at the Native American Music Awards over the past weekend. The band was nominated for three awards and took home honors for Record of the Year.

The band is composed of two brothers, Phillip and Stephen Blanchett, and two others, Karina Moeller and Ossie Kairaiuak. The group has a wide variety of musical influences and their third and most recent album is titled "Caught in the Act," which was recorded live in Anchorage.
