Wednesday, November 19, 2003

Two Navajos, Calvin Tom and Christopher Bitsilly, were sentenced in the death of Charles Guerrero yesterday, according to the Farmington Daily Times. Both received an 18 year sentence, the maximum, in prison for beating Guerrero to death in a Farmington motel.

Tom and Bitsilly came to a party in Guerrero's motel room, and after drinking with him, proceeded to fight with Guerrero, ending his life with a crushing blow to Guerrero's skull.

During the sentencing, the judge allowed a videotape of Guerrero that showed him smiling and singing to his family. Guerrero talked about family, friendship and forgiveness on the videotape.
