Pow-wow is tradition for Haliwa-Saponi family
Monday, December 1, 2003

For Glenn and Barbara Richardson, members of the Haliwa-Saponi Tribe of North Carolina, pow-wow is a family tradition.

Glenn and Barbara's sons compete on the circuit. Josh Richardson, a high school student, attends about 30 pow-wow a year but still keeps up with his schoolwork. He is a grass dancer while brother James is a fancy dancer and brother Shannon is a traditional dancer.

The Haliwa-Saponi Tribe is state-recognized.
