Middle school students learn Indian sign language

Middle-school students on the Yakama Reservation in Washington are learning how to use Indian sign language.

Instructor Loretta Selam-White has taught sign for 15 years. She says it's mostly used for performances or in ceremonies where talking is not allowed.

Students in grades four through eight are taught Yakama language.
