N.D. city unveils statue of Mandan Chief Sheheke

A statue of Mandan Chief Sheheke, who welcomed explorers Lewis and Clark to what is now North Dakota, was unveiled in Washburn on Friday.

The statue will be placed in Harmony Park, a staging area that will be used to mark the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Statues of the two men are being built.
